Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy...But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

toptentuesday
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Each week we are invited to post a list on a variety of book –related topics.
I haven’t participated in a while but this week’s topic spoke to me!

I am so guilty of rushing out to get a new release or a book I am dying to read only to have it sit on my shelf. I also pre-order my favourite authors so I have it as soon as it comes out and they sit on my shelf too. Here’s a list of the Top Ten books I couldn’t wait to get my hands on, but haven’t cracked open yet.

  1. Shine by Lauren Myracle
  2. Dearly Departed by Lia Habel
  3. Bloodlines by Rachel Mead
  4. Matched/Crossed/Reached by Ally Condie
  5. Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay
  6. Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton
  7. Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
  8. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
  9. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  10. The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong

Do we have any in common? Which one should I make a priority to read next?

  1. Absolutely you MUST read "The Sky is Everywhere" next! Do not hesitate - read it!

  2. I'm in agreement. YOU HAVE TO READ THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE. haha. Although, it's definitely draining-- emotionally. So read it when you are in the mood for that.

  5. I think I would tell you to read The Gathering first. I love Kelley Armstrong. I need to read the Girl of Fire and Thorns too. Great list!

    1. I love Kelley Armstrong too... I also have the Calling (on another shelf)
There aren't enough hours in the day.

  6. I have several of those as well. I think part of my problem is that once I buy the book I'm no longer in a rush to read it whereas if I borrow it from the library I have a deadline, you know? Good luck with your list!

  7. I have many of these waiting to be read as well. The only one I have to pick up on is The girl of Fire and Thorns. You MUST read it as soon as possible, it's one of my favourite fantasy novels ever. You are missing out on something grand!

  8. Your shelves are organized so pretty! I must say that although I LOVED Matched, I only liked the last two in that trilogy. I also need to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns b/c I've heard its fabulous!

  9. They all sound great, so whichever you can read next, do read next! Enjoy them all when you finally get to them :)

  10. I've read several of these but I can't say much because of my huge TBR shelf. I will say that I enjoyed Matched but haven't gotten to the rest of the novels in the series. Like you, I also have The Sky is Everywhere on my shelf.

    Good luck finding time!

  11. I read Matched last year but was kind of underwhelmed by it, so I still haven't read Crossed yet.

I'm really guilty of this too - I buy so many books because I NEED to own then, but then end up getting distracted by newer books or review copies or... I don't know, shiny objects. Ugh. I really should have done this TTT - it might have brought on a big enough guilt complex that I'd actually get round to reading them!
