The Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read where we answer a book related question and follow links to visit other blogs and read their answers too. It's been a while since I participated but I really liked the questions this week.
This week's question from Reading and Writing Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Fiction:
Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it?
Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.
I enjoy poetry and have a few anthologies of my favourites, but I've never been particularly fond of novels in verse. I tend to lose interest after the first few chapters.
I picked up Love and Leftovers based on the cover:
And I loved it. The story had the right combination of heart break and dreamy boys. But ultimately it was the language and the authors way with words that hooked me.
Have you read it?
Oh! Why didn't I think of that? I usually steer clear of verse, but this one was the first (and only) verse novel I read and I loved it too! Sigh. I fail.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, not sure how I never found you before but I'm now following :)
My Friday Hops
I have not read that! I'd have to go with Jessi. I don't normally read Verse even though I like it, I don't think it could hold my interest that well. But I'm seeing so many good reviews I might have to try it! Great FF! New follower! Stop by My F&F ?
ReplyDeleteI love novels in verse! This book looks so good! I really need to read it soon. Glad you enjoyed it!

Hopping through. I've never been a fan of novels in verse either, but I am curious about this one. I should get it.

ReplyDeleteAck! Trying for more brain power with this comment. I've never heard of this book, but the cover is reminiscent of those of Simone Elkeles' books. I'm now following you via GFC and would love for you to visit me whenever you get a moment..... http://wowfromthescarfprincess.blogspot.com/2012/07/feature-follow-friday.html
