Dear George Clooney, Please Marry My Mom by Susin Nielson
"Violet's TV-director dad has traded a job in Vancouver for one in Los Angeles, their run-down house for a sleek ranch-style home complete with a pool, and, worst of all, Violet's mother for a trophy wife, a blonde actress named Jennica. Violet's younger sister reacts by bed-wetting, and her mother ping-pongs from one loser to another, searching for love. As for Violet, she gets angry in ways that are by turns infuriating, shocking, and hilarious."
A truly exceptional read. It reminded me of how I felt reading a book by Judy Blume or Paula Danzinger.

Violet is a wonderfully likable character. I instantly connected to her and though my heart ached because of her situation, her antics and outbursts had me laughing out loud.
I think girls (at any age) whose parents have been through divorce will relate to Violet, her feelings of abandonment and her sheer desperation for a better relationship with her father.
She's helpless in regards to her parents decisions, where her father chooses to focus his attention, and the men that her mom chooses to date...she's fed up and takes matters into her own hands. Wouldn't life be better if her mom were to marry George Clooney? If only she could meet him. . .

I really enjoyed this novel too!! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like an AWESOME book! I am definitely adding it to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteI loved Judy Blume and Paula Danziger when I was younger. This sounds like it would be pretty good.
