TGIF is hosted by Ginger at GReads. Each week a new book related question is posted:
This week:
Book Disappointments: Have you ever come across a book you were so stoked to read, but it failed miserably in your eyes?
I know that there are many who have loved this book, actually the entire series. There is still a waiting list for this one at my library. I thought it sounded wonderful, my book-club chose it as a selection, it's adult and met my "adult" quota for the month. I didn't get past page 100. Apparently, If I had read to page 132, I would have been hooked. But 132 pages? That's a lot of time to devote to one book before getting hooked.
Have you read it?
It's been forever since I participated in the Friday Follow which is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. I really liked the question this week:
What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?
The world of Harry Potter.....it's real already isn't it? A very small part of me likes to believe that it is, a larger part of me can not wait for my Pottermore email :)
Have a great weekend everyone! Be sure to leave I link so I can check out your answers:)

I did HP too!
Looks like HP is a popular answer! I haven't read any of Stieg Larsson's books because they don't really interest me. It's too bad you found it disappointing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Of course, it totally is real :D I haven't read Steig Larson's trilogy but do have it for 'one day', boo to disappointments!
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit the world of Harry Potter too! I actually liked the Stieg Larsson books, but I can have a really high tolerance for books that take a while to get going :)

Definitely had to mention Harry Potter myself. I think that's going to be one of the big hitters for this week. Oh, I hope you into into Pottermore soon! Soon as I got in I practically decimated everything I could find to do and then spent the next day messaging my Dad about all the facts I kept finding out to make him jealous.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'll always be waiting for Pottermail. Just now instead of a student acceptance letter, a professors request to teach at Hogwarts! Happy friday!

Erika@Let's talk about books
LOL 132 as opposed to 100? Too funny. I have this book and plan to try reading it soon, so we'll see how it goes. :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower here!
ReplyDeleteI've yet to read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo- even if I happen to be a girl with a dragon tattoo- and honestly I never really plan to. I agree, 132 pages to get hooked is crazy.
Is the world of Harry Potter real? Yes, yes it is and no one can tell me otherwise ;)
Here are my Friday Memes
Hi! New follower.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a great universe. I chose what has been called "the Russian answer to Harry Potter" so obviously we've both got good taste! ;)

I wasn't crazy about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo either, but everyone else in my club loved it, so I went to see the movie (Swedish)then I liked it better. :) Some times movies help!

My Head is Full of Books
I have read the first 30 pages of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and that was it...it's one of those books I feel like I need to read, understand, and memorize eveyr line from it, otherwise I will be confused later on. I might pick it back up in the future...who knows.
ReplyDeleteI did read and love the Millenium Trilogy. I failed at my first and second attempts at getting through the first 132 pages. LOL! That beginning portion that you have to slog through does become important later on in the book. I will say that the Swedish movie versions of the book are spot on, maybe you can watch the first one and then pick up the books with "The Girl Who Played With Fire" which was my fave of the 3.
ReplyDeleteHa, I hadn't even thought about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for that answer. You're completely right though - I thought it was such a let down too. I finished it but I never want to bother with it again.
